Punk Fashion and its impact on high fashion, from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today, will be the focus of the Spring 2013 Costume Institute Exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City from May 9 to August 14, 2013.
The exhibition will kick off on May 6 with the Met Costume Institute Benefit Gala, also known as the Met Ball, at the Metropolitan Museum.
The event is one of the most star-studded of the year, drawing the world’s biggest stars (regular attendees include Emma Watson, Kate Hudson, Lea Michele, Jessica Biel, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Blake Lively, Charlize Theron, and Jessica Alba) in their most outstanding gowns. Fans can’t get into the event but they can watch the stars walk the red carpet and take photos.
After-parties are also held around the city at various location, including The Standard Hotel, giving fans a second chance to do some star-sighting.
