Today, Dreamwork’s Need for Speed began filming on location in Macon, Georgia.
The movie, starring Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton, Rami Malek, and Imogen Poots, chronicles a cross-country journey at impossible speeds.
Macon city officials announced road closures for filming of the movie, most of which is expected to take place at night.
The roads that will be closed are:
• Wednesday: The southbound exit ramp of Interstate 75 at Hardeman Avenue from 6-10 a.m., with intermittent traffic control on Hardeman Avenue and Forsyth Street as they merge into Vineville Avenue.
• Thursday: Closing of Monroe Street and Washington Place between Tinsley Place and Hardeman Avenue from 6 a.m.-noon, and Magnolia Street from noon-10 p.m. There also will be intermittent traffic control on Hardeman and Georgia avenues from 6 a.m.-noon.
• Friday: Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Plum Street Lane and Hawthorne Street will be closed from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Lower Poplar Street between Seventh and Eleventh streets will be closed from 2-6 a.m.
• Saturday: Walnut Street and part of Sixth Street between Second and Seventh streets will be closed from 6-11 p.m. Third Street between Mulberry Street and Plum Street Lane will be closed from 11 p.m.-6 a.m.
• April 30: Mulberry Street, Cotton Avenue and Second Street between First and Third streets will be closed from midnight-6 a.m. Poplar Street, Second Street Lane and Third Street will be closed from 6-10 p.m. Mulberry Street, Mulberry Street Lane and Second Street Lane between Mulberry and Poplar streets will be closed from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. There also will be intermittent traffic control on Cherry Street between Second and Third Streets from 10 p.m.-2 a.m.
• May 1: Second and Third Streets at Mulberry Street Lane will close from 6 p.m.-midnight, while Third Street, Cherry Street Lane, Martin Luther King Boulevard and Poplar Street (ending at Seventh Street) will be closed from midnight-6 a.m. There also will be intermittent traffic control on Mulberry Street between First and Third streets from 6 p.m.-midnight.
• May 2: Poplar Street between Seventh Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard will be closed from 6 p.m.-6 a.m.
