Several New Orleans streets will be closed through June for the filming of ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which wrapped up filming in Vancouver, BC today, will soon take over several streets in New Orleans, LA.

Beginning tomorrow, May 11, the 100 and 200 blocks of South Rampart Street, the 1000 block of Common Street, and the 1100 block of Tulane Avenue will be closed for filming through June 24.

500 Orange Street, 500 Market Street, 500 Richard Street, and the 1500 and 1600 blocks of South Peters Street will also be closed through May 24.

The sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, focuses on the “growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar (Andy Serkis) as they are threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”

The new movie stars Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, and Judy Greer.

    near the 510 bridge and in the wooded areas on the south side of 510 between interstate 10 and the exit for the Chef Mentor Highway.
