Columbia Pictures has leased a former Lowe’s building off Route 97 in Haverhill, MA for The Equalizer, an adaptation of the 1980s television series.
Filming is expected to take place at the location over a 4-week period sometime between mid-June and August.
The movie’s plot centers on Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), “a retired intelligence officer, who turns into a vigilante for the helpless. When he decides to help a young hooker (Chloe Moretz), he gets heat from the Russian mafia, and in particular a brutal fixer played by Marton Csokas who has signed on to the play the movie’s villain.”
The empty store where filming will take place is located in the Haverhill Commons shopping center, next to Target.

Filming is getting ready to start at this location. Parking lot was full of Crew and Security and it looks like they were setting it up with Props to look like a functioning store.

I went there today to do a little “stalking” hoping I might get a glimpse of something or someone and after 15 minutes, Denzel came walking from the set over to his trailer which was probably 100 feet in front of me, I got his attention he looked at me, smiled and waved hello to me. I snapped a quick pic and went on my merry way. Oh did I mention that no one else was there being an amateur paparazzi like myself. Really cool!

when do they usually start to shoot a scene and how long? Saw him today but he didn’t even look back since he was in a hurry to go in the building for a scene then they said come back around 8pm and he’s done so he can talk to the fans but when we came back everybody is gone 🙁
they film all day, like 12 hours a day so it can be a waiting a game when they are filming interiors like they are here

I went by late Friday and they were packing everything up and by Saturday morning almost everything was gone accept 1 trailer. I heard Denzel came out on of the days and said hello to people. Wish I could’ve been there for that.

It is VERY difficult to get close to the stars. It takes a lot of luck and most times (95%) it doesn’t happen. When you do get lucky a great many stars would rather avoid it and most are not into autographs. I’m sure Haverhill has plenty of security. Security is there to keep you away.
actually I’ve gotten at least 10 or so great reports from fans who met Denzel and saw him filming at that locations, he’s been friendly on his way out even stopped the car to sign for one woman. Seems like he’s being very cool.

Yeah is still there. all the trailers and truck still there.
I saw Denzel last Friday night on Falcon St., in E. Boston, MA. He is using the 3rd floor apartment as his residence in the film. It was late at night and no flash photograph was allowed so I only got a picture of the back of his head, UGH! A very cool thing, though, between takes Denzel would walk across the street to a bunch of young kids sitting on their steps and fist pumped each and every one of them and spoke briefly to them, as well. I regret not making my way over to him as he was about 10 ft. away from me but I didn’t want to take away from his time with the kids. Seems to be very approachable and just a regular guy. Loved him before now I love him more because of that. Anybody know where they are filming tonight or the weekend?

I was coming back from Merrimack Valley Hospital towards the court House an WOW all white huge trucks omg I wanted to see something but it was 12pm an people were eating. It was very closed. There was a small truck with a canopy attached an I could see a table of food but very hard to see who was in there. I turned around an came back but nothing omg I was so hoping to see Denzel. Denzel if you see these commits we Love You..xoxo
