‘Transformers 4’ shoot moves to Michigan next week

After spending a couple of weeks in Utah, Transformers 4 is currently shooting in Texas and next week they move to Michigan to continue filming.

According to the  Michigan Department of Transportation, filming of Transformers 4 will close M-52 between Weston and Mulberry roads in Fairfield Township (About 10 miles south of Adrian, MI) from 8 p.m. on June 25 to 9 a.m. on June 29. The shoot dates were chosen so the production would not interfere with the July harvest in the area.

In addition to the Fairfield Township shoot, producers have also looked into filming on the decommissioned Coast Guard ship Bramble, located in Port Huron, Michigan.

And, of course, sets are still being built in Detroit for the shoot. Above are a couple more photos of the set going up near Grand Circus Park.

  1. I heard it’s my parent’s old house that I grew up in on Mulberry Rd that is getting blown up! There goes all the good and bad memories! Wish I could be there to see the filming of the movie!

    • The address of my old house is 11964 South Adrian Hwy. Jasper, Michigan. I located it on Google Earth. It sure looks different since I lived there but how cool is that. It’s going to be blown up in the movie! I can’t wait to see the movie!

  2. I used to live in Adrian and have been here for this shoot, people need to know that access is shut off to anyone who does not live in the area. This is for many reasons, and the main one would be to deter anyone who may want to shoot, film or leak this film which is due out next summer.

  3. I live like 15 minutes from Port Huron and would love to be an extra in the movie. Anyone that could help make this happen, it means so much to me. All I ever wanted to do was to be in a Transformers movie ever since the first one filmed in Michigan. I really hope they use the ship.

    • Joshua, open casting calls for the previous shoot in Detroit are over unfortunately. Day 1 of filming was cancelled due to rain, but the 4 day shoot near Adrian is for a bulk of the action scene for the film.

      • Yes I know but I couldn’t even try out for the parts because they said to dress the part. I have no military uniform, no business suit, and I am not chinese. So there was no point on trying. But I really hope that they do film on the ship in Port Huron because I am up there at least twice a week. I live so close that I could be there every day they film if it takes more than a day.

  4. Josh, the open casting call did require potential extras to dress for the part of Federal Agents and head shots would be done at NO cost, and yes there was also requests/encouragement for those within the local Asian community to attend this casting call.

As for the above comments regarding filming in Fairfield on the decommissioned Coast Guard Ship “Bramble” in Port Huron. Check your sources/maps because Fairfield is 1hr+ to any of the Great Lakes coast(s) let alone driving distance to any place where any decommissioned ship would be.

  9. I just came from the shoot in Adrian and photographed the explosion as well as Optimus Prime and the NEW 2014 Argosy cab-over truck by Freightliner. HMU for exclusive photos.

    • I drive semi truck. I was coming up highway 109, and was passed by a police car with its lights going. I seen it go north, and was soon out of sight. I get up to 109, and 120, and the road is closed. When I get there, there is a fire truck, and a rescue squad going through the closed road gates, going north towards Jasper. I took the detour, and when the road came back to M52, there were about 200 people standing around. All kinds of police cars, fire trucks, and traffic. What happened today in that intersection? Was there a accident because of the filming, or did something go wrong otherwise?

  10. Bruce – There was a bad accident at the intersection one mile south of Mulberry Rd. on M-52. Two cars came together. Unrelated to film shoot. I came upon it as they were loading up the cars. I hope everyone was ok.

  11. Is the filming in Michigan totally over now..if not when is it done? My boys LOVE Transformers and that would have been memorable to try to see the trucks or something!!

  12. Rebecca – It looks like Transformers 4 will be back in Fairfield Twp. south of Adrian, MI on July 8th and 9th according to a MDOT sign now warning motorists that M-52 will be closed. They were letting people stand directly across the road from their vehicle staging area and we were allowed to watch the actual filming of stunts from just a couple hundred yards away. Your kids would love it. I know I did! Christine just posted some of my pics and others’. Also some videos.

  13. Filming of Transformers 4 will continue next Monday and Tuesday.  Those that parked alongside Weston near the film crew/vehicle staging area will not be allowed to park there again, so thanks to the inconsiderate people who stopped in the middle of the road blocking the driveway just to take a pic rather than parking like everyone else.  They created congestion for the film crew staff and ruined it for fans that wanted to get an up close look.

As per Paramounts complaint, NO roadside parking will be allowed and tickets will be issued.
