Christopher Nolan’s new sci-fi film Interstellar is being kept under tight wraps and has just begun production in Calgary, Alberta.
Not much is known except that the film is about a group of explorers who use wormholes to travel through time and space to surpass the limitations of human space travel. It is said to explore Kip Thorne’s theories on gravity fields and a few hypotheses that Albert Einstein never proved.
Matthew McConaughey, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, and David Oyelowo star in this film and is set to be released in November 2014.
Warner Bros. and Paramount Production has opened up a production office in Okotoks under the name of Flora’s Letter. Interstellar will be filming at various locations in southern Alberta, including Calgary, Nanton, Okotoks, Longview and Lethbridge through Sept. 9.

McConaughey has been in Calgary for a few weeks at least now. He’s been spotted with his kids around the Eau Claire area of Calgary’s downtown. Calgarians, by and large, leave him be and let him blend in with everyone else which must be nice for him.
