‘Left Behind’ filming at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge next week

The upcoming movie Left Behind, based on the best-selling novel Left Behind: A Novel of Earth’s Last Days, will be filming at Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge, LA next week.

Here are all of the details from the Mayor’s Office:

Baton Rouge City Police plan to close several streets at the Mall of Louisiana off Picardy Avenue for the filming of the feature film, “Left Behind,” featuring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage.

“Left Behind” is based on the best-selling Christian novels about life after the Rapture. Filming began August 5, 2013 and will continue to shoot around East Baton Rouge Parish over the next four weeks.

Tuesday, September 3

Filming is scheduled to occur on Mall Ring Boulevard from approximately 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. During the filming, there will be Intermittent Traffic Control at Entrance 2 ( Mall of Louisiana Boulevard) as well as the Entrance 1 ( closest to Interstate 10) until 7 p.m. including along Mall Ring Boulevard. (The impacted streets will remain open for the day, but traffic will be halted temporarily while the cameras are rolling.)

Wednesday, September 4

Filming is scheduled to occur on Mall Ring Boulevard from approximately 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. During the filming, there will be Intermittent Traffic Control at Entrance 2 ( Mall of Louisiana Boulevard) as well as the Entrance 1 ( closest to Interstate 10) until 7 p.m. including along Mall Ring Boulevard. (The impacted streets will remain open for the day, but traffic will be halted temporarily while the cameras are rolling.)

Please be aware that there will be a scene involving Pyrotechnics thus there will be smoke as well as loud explosions including a 60 foot fireball. There will be EMS, EBR Sheriff Department as well as St. George Fire presence during all of these shooting scenes.

Thursday September 5

The Eastbound Picardy Entrance Ramp to Mall of Louisiana Boulevard will be closed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to Siegen Lane. There will be detour signs and barricades as well as EBR Sheriff Dept. officials on site.

In addition the West Bound Picardy Entrance Ramp to the Mall of Louisiana Boulevard will also be closed between the hours of 7 a.m and 12 p.m. and all traffic will be detoured to Bluebonnet Boulevard.

All Bluebonnet Boulevard entrances will be open and accessible to the Mall of Louisiana. During this shoot, a bus will be involved in a staged accident. Do not be alarmed as this is part of the film shoot and is within a controlled environment.

Left Behind stars Nicholas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, Jordin Sparks, Nicky Whelan, and Cassi Thomson (who replaced Ashley Tisdale), among others.
