‘SpongeBob SquarePants 2’ filming underway in Georgia; Extras needed

Filming is underway on SpongeBob SquarePants 2 – an animated film that will incorporate live action scenes – on Tybee Island and in downtown Savannah, Georgia.

Filming began about 2 weeks ago and so far things haven’t been going so smoothly. The movie has already cost the director of Savannah’s film office his job after city officials cited complaints from local businesses that he failed to properly plan and manage filming arrangements.

But, it isn’t all bad. Last week one of our readers, @heyitsmederek, shared these photos of some props spotted around Tybee Island and filming is still on schedule to move to Savannah on Oct. 9.
