Last night Cameron Diaz was in New York City signing copies of her new book, The Body Book, which she describes as “a book that gives you information about your body and the science of your body, and how it works around nutrition and fitness, the lack of and the actual well-being of your body.”
During a talk before the signing she explained that she’s not claiming to be a nutrition expert but she is lucky to have access to people who are experts and can help her write it.
Here are a few more highlights from the signing courtesy of one of our contributors, Denise, who met Cameron at the event last night:
– She kept talking about how important movement is every day. If you’re sitting for 8 hours you are considered sedentary. You should try to get up and walk, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
– She said she eats a lot and doesn’t deprive herself because if you eat enough of the good stuff, then you can have some of the bad stuff.
– She told a story about how during filming of Bad Teacher, she wanted her character to always be eating something to show her maniacal nature. The prop guys had a joke about always needing a spit bucket handy, but she said “no, I got this.” If she was filmed eating something in the movie, she’s really eating it and that’s including all the takes they would do. She said it was unhealthy stuff too like tater tots and egg sandwiches. She described it as “really fun.”
– Cameron said if she has an early call time, she’ll get up a half hour early and just do jumping jacks or lunges to bring oxygen in and to get movement in before she is at work.
– She asked if we knew the difference between hunger and appetite. She said they are 2 different things. Hunger is the red light inside us letting us know we have to eat and appetite is controlled by outside stimuli.
Denise added, “she personalized our books and was willing to take photos at the desk (she didn’t get up, she leaned in across the desk). It was great because Barnes & Noble had an employee just standing there taking pictures of us with her! I was surprised she was willing to do all of that. I just went in expecting her signature, but got a lot more! This was one of the better signings I attended.”
