Adam Sandler begins filming in ‘Pixels’ in Toronto

Adam Sandler is notorious for spending his summers filming in locations that can easily double as family vacation destinations.

He’s even admitted it.

“When you decide to make a film, do you say ‘I wanna make this film somewhere where I can be on vacation?'” Jimmy Kimmel recently asked Sandler. To which he simply replied, “Yes.”

Last year he spent the summer filming Blended at the Sun City Resort in South Africa. The three summers before that were spent on the coast of Massachusetts shooting Grown Ups, That’s My Boy, and Grown Ups 2. And, between these projects, he managed to find time to hang out with Jennifer Aniston in Hawaii for Just Go With It.

So, where are Adam and his family headed this summer? Toronto.

The Sandler clan has arrived in Ontario where Adam began filming Pixels this week while his wife and kids will likely be chilling on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Toronto is filling in for NYC in the movie, about a group of aliens who misinterpret video feeds of old arcade games as a declaration of war, leading to use the games as models for an attack on Earth.

This week they have dressed several downtown Toronto streets to look like New York City, complete with “stairs” for a NYC subway.

Road closure signage indicates the move will be filming June 2-6 and June 9-10 from 7pm – 6:30am on Adelaide street, from University to Yonge and on York St from king to Richmond.
