Latest ‘Spectre’ filming updates

Since the last time we wrote about the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, filming has been plagued with troubles. First there was Rome denying the production permission to shoot crucial scenes on the Quattro Fontane crossroads due to worries of damaging the area.  Next was its star, Daniel Craig, injuring his knee in late January/early February on the set at Pinewood Studios badly enough that they had to stop production. Fortunately it wasn’t long until he was back at work. Then a couple of weeks later, a second-unit assistant director suffered multiple fractures on set in Sölden, Austria. More recently production was denied permission to shoot in the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff, Wales.

Despite these issues, filming has marched on. As well as Pinewood and Austria, the production, and Daniel, had been seen in mid-February shooting at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, UK. Rumor has it they were filming a car chase and casino scene.

Filming is well under way in Rome, and everything appears to be going well, even with the continued denial of  shooting at the crossroads. Initially Romans were complaining about the production, especially because of traffic snarls, but people have slowly been warming to it as the crews have been cleaning up the areas where they’ve been filming. So far they have been shooting all over Rome, including the Museum of Roman Civilization and the lower banks of the Tiber River. It is rumored that they will be shooting Bond parachuting onto the Castel Sant’Angelo, just outside Vatican City. Fans of Angels and Demons will remember this historic site well as having played a major part in the book and movie.

After wrapping in Rome, the movie is slated to film in Mexico and Morocco. The movie is planned to be released in November 2015.
