Ryan Gosling was in Austin, TX over the weekend to discuss his directorial debut, Lost River, at SXSW. The movie, which stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Iain De Caestecker, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith, and Ben Mendelsohn, was shot entirely in Detroit under the title How To Catch A Monster back in 2013.
During one SXSW interview, Gosling spoke briefly about filming the movie in Detroit saying, “Detroit has this whole other side to it, it’s sort of reinventing itself, there’s like a real energy, and the people there are so talented and genuine…I feel like there are so many amazing characters there…I just want to make more films there.”
Gosling, along with Ronan and Caestecker, also revealed where the cast liked to hang out out when not working on the movie – The Anchor Bar, located at 450 W Fort St in Detroit.
