Check out the mall where ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is filming this week

Earlier this week director Bryan Singer shared a photo from inside a Montreal mall where they are currently filming X-Men:Apocalypse.

With the movie is set in 1983, crews transformed the Cote-Des-Neiges Plaza into the “Galleria Mall”, complete with a tape store, a Kay-Bee Toy Store, a movie theater playing Return of the Jedi, and an old school arcade where Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Jubilee (Lana Condor) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) were all spotted hanging out on Tuesday night.

Filming is expected to continue through tonight at Cote-Des-Neiges Plaza before the cast and crew head back into the studio.

  1. It’s very strange that (MAD MAGAZINE presents) UP THE ACADEMY (1980) is playing alongside RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983). I suppose, to get around the anachronism, they could claim it’s a re-release but I thought UP THE ACADEMY was a box office failure. NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION (1983) would make a lot more sense, although there may be a movie production in-joke reason why UP THE ACADEMY was chosen (dig at Robert Downey Jr.’s father, the director of the film?).

Coincidentally, I saw VEGAS VACATION at that exact cinema (Cineplex-Odeon Cote-des-Neiges) in 1997.
