What Was Your Best Celebrity Sighting? (UPDATED)

jack-black-on-main-st

We’ve had to temporarily take down our forums but wanted to keep the conversation going. So, I thought I’d start an open threads that anyone can chime in on.

I’m wondering who your best celebrity sighting was? Where did you see them? Did you talk to them or take a picture? Let us know in a comment below!

Mine was probably the collection of celebrities we saw at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. We saw everyone from Jack Black to Matthew Perry, and that was just on Main St in Park City!

If you have pictures you want us to add to this post of your celebrity sighting, you can email them to us at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

UPDATE:

Here are a few shots sent to us by Eric B. from the Tribeca Film Festival 2009 where he saw Mickey Rouke (yes, The Wrestler guy), Andy Garcia, and Tony Plana. Thanks to Eric B. and don’t forget to send us your favorite celeb pics or leave a comment with your story!

  1. A couple weeks back I was on the same flight as josh radnor (ted mosby on himym) from lax-jfk. I was too embarrassed to say anything and most definitely was not going to take out my camera and start snapping, so I got some shots with my phone. Just my luck on my way out with my luggage and stuff my phone dropped and snapped in two. Lost the pictures forever 🙁

  2. hmm well, I have a lot.

    1) Criss Angel filming Mindfreak in the Luxor…then I ended up on the show!
    2) Fred Mascherino from Taking Back Sunday and the Color Fred was on an airplane to Vegas with me.
    3) Brody Jenner at the Ivy- sat at table behind me
    4) Paul Sorvino at the Ivy the year before- also sat at that same table behind me.
    5) Ed McMahon- The Beverly Hilton rehearsing for the Jerry Lewis telethon
    6) Penny Mitchell- The Beverly Hilton at an American Cancer Society aevent.
    7) Jason Kidd- same thing as above
    8) Warren Moon- same thing
    9) Joe Montana- same thing
    10) Mario Lopez coming out of Koi
    11) Nigel Litgoe coming out of an Italian restaurant
    12) Chris Evan going into a club
    13) Paris Hilton going into the same club
    14) The Jonas Brothers coming out of the Roxy club. They posed for pics:)
    15) John McCain at a local airport
    16) Sean Astin hanging out in the lobby of my hotel I was staying at in Cali(Bev Hilton) He took a pic with me
    17) I sumbled upon an award show with my parents so we say a billion people on the red carpet (Sharon Ozbourne, Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crowe, Lance Armstrong, Jenny McCarthy, Snoop Dogg)
    18) okay there are a lot more but I don’t want to be here all night…I’ll just mention Johnny Depp at the Teen Choice Awards, but I did pay for that so I don’t know if that counts. 🙂

  3. I thought I saw Tony Shalube (sp?) on a NYC sidewalk go into a tux store wearing sunglasses. I went to IMDB and someone said he was on some talk show in nyc that week so it might’ve been him.

I pay to go to conventions and stuff. Does that count? I’ve met some mostly small and some big names there but I paid to see them so I don’t think it counts.

  4. Steve Carell frequents Target in Kingston, MA. Last Christmas time he went to my register. i was soooo starstruck it was crazy.

  5. I volunteered at the We Are One Concert in January and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Taxi, etc.) was going through my ticketed gate instead of the VIP gate. Raven Simone, as well.

I’ve gone to a few Office-related things. So, I met a few cast members at the Office Convention in Scranton two years ago. I was in an elevator with Ed Helms and Mike Schur (writer/producer/Cousin Mose) one night and later in an elevator with Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton, and Melora Hardin.

However, my best celebrity encounter was John Krasinski in Connecticut when he was filming Away We Go and OLV was the reason why. So, kudos to y’all!

  6. Thanks to everyone for your comments! (and yes eric, conventions count, 🙂 )

I also got a tip/email from John who smoked a cigarette with Ted Danson and said the following about it:

“Just smoked a cigarette with Ted Danson during a break on Bored 2 Death. HBO series to begin later this year. Met Motel 73 st and Queens Blvd be there all night.”
“He was very cool. So down to earth. I am 6’3 and with his hair like Sammy Malone but white was taller than me. LOL.”

If anyone else has a celeb story please let us know about it here! (Sorry to take so long to get the rest of these updates posted too!)

  7. Other than the good old meeting the Gossip Girl crew on set I saw katie Holmes and Suri at UniQlo in SoHo, walked past Kirsten Dunst in SoHo, saw Kelly Ripa at her gym at Columbus Circle twice and saw Milo Ventimiglia at a cafe today in west Hollywood.. The only ones I’ve actually had a conversation with though are jessica Szohr, Taylor Momsen and Blake Lively who are all very lovely but Jessica Szohr was honestly one of the nicest most down to earth people I’ve ever met!

  8. Oh and i saw EVE at a restaurant in East Hampton and Cote De pablo from NCIS at a cafe in Hollywood who both seemed to be really nice with the staff etc but I didn’t actually speak to them.

  9. My favorite of all time was seeing George Clooney in NYC while he was filming One Fine Day, many years ago. I didn’t get close enough to talk to him though.

I’ve seen/met a lot of A-list actors in NYC at the stage door when they’ve been in various plays/musicals on broadway. One of the nicest was Julianne Moore, she was so sweet and down to earth. Also, Bill Nighy, Lauren Graham, Billy Zane, Patrick Wilson, Amanda Peet have all been very nice and gracious.

Also, one of my most fun celebrity encounters was with Corbin Bersen. I actually met him on a set tour when he was on General Hospital a few years ago, and he hung out with us for about 20 minutes or so, chatting and showing us footage of the film he was directing at the time. Just a really funny, sweet, down-to-earth guy.
