Filming Locations for ‘The Circle’, starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks & Patton Oswalt

On Friday, Sept. 11, the highly anticipated film adaptation of Dave Eggers’ dystopian novel, The Circle, began shooting in L.A.

The Circle is being directed by Spectacular Now director James Ponsoldt – who co-wrote the screenplay with Eggers – and stars Tom Hanks, Emma Watson, Patton Oswalt, Karen Gillan, Bill Paxton and John Boyega.

Watson plays Mae Holland in the movie, an employee at the technology company The Circle which slowly takes over her life in a sinister way, while Hanks stars as Kalden, Mae’s mysterious lover who is trying to stop the encroaching power of The Circle.

Today, The Circle is filming at 950 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena, Ca, according to city permits.

  1. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are proud that Tom Hanks comes from the East Bay, where I live. I’ve heard him comment on “The Dumbo”, meaning the Dumbarton Bridge which goes from Fremont to East Palo Alto/Menlo Park. A fly-over of Emma Watson’s character was featured in the movie. Bay Area beaches, including Ocean Beach and Stinson Beach were mentioned and shown in the movie (Shown as video footage, not as shoot locations).
