Director Kathryn Bigelow commenced filming on her next project in Massachusetts this week.
The movie, which is currently going by UDP or Untitled Detroit Project, takes place during the destructive five day Detroit riots that occurred in 1967. Other than the setting, there are few details available about the project.
Variety has confirmed John Boyega stars in the movie, and one of readers spotted Liam Hemsworth on the set yesterday.
Currently, the movie’s base camp is set up at the Immaculate Conception Church in Malden. The movie is listed in the Massachusetts Film Office’s current production list, as Detroit, and is expected to continue filming in Massachusetts for the next few weeks before moving to Detroit where Bigelow will film additional exterior scenes.
