‘The Walking Dead’ is filming on Georgia’s Jekyll Island today!

It looks like the day has finally come, The Walking Dead was just spotted setting up to  filmon Jekyll Island in Georgia.

A couple of weeks ago we reported the show’s production company, Stalwart Films, had applied for a filming permit to shoot on the beach and on Riverview Drive on Jekyll Island. Here is the full scene description from the permit:

One scene involves four cast members on a beach with “a human corpse half buried in a small tidal pool.”

“Further down the beach, another person is washed ashore alive and carried to a drier section of the beach. After being revived, the survivor slips away from the rescuers while they are distracted and is seen moving inland past the wrack line.”

Last night, one of our readers reported there were signs along Beachview Dr. that stated the road would be closed all day today for filming. Our tipster, Megan, added, “passing by Driftwood Beach tonight I saw a lot of trailers and equipment. There was a hydraulic lift and an old wrecked boat sitting in the beach parking area.”

This morning we received another tip from Eric who advised, “the north end of the island’s main road is being shut down today. I was going on a Ghost Tour this evening but they canceled due to The Walking Dead.”

There’s still no word as to who in the main cast is filming on the island, if anyone, but we’ll keep you posted as we get updates! Are you on Jekyll Island this weekend? Share your scoop with us at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

  1. I was on Jekyll yesterday. Got to buy a main actor on the show a beer. I won’t say who, but he was very nice and was willing to chat for almost an Hr!

  2. Trying to find out who’s doing the casting as a friend who is also a lead singer in an up and coming band wants to do some acting. I actually seen one post on the news that was a pretty late update to get onboard from Jax news. Who can he contact? Anyone know?
