Despite the looming threat that a writers’ strike could derail filming, production did begin today on The Walking Dead’s eighth season.
As we reported last week, “Do Not Mow” signs had been posted around Senoia, GA, on Hwy 20 in Hampton at 4th St and Solomon in Griffin, and at Tyrone Rd and Flat Creek in Fayetteville, a telltale sign that filming was on schedule to begin the first Monday of May, which is the show’s typical schedule.
Today, the TSDF Facebook Page confirmed filming is underway and provided a few more details about where the show will be shooting this week:
5/2 – Fayetteville: Tyrone Rd & Flat Creek Trail/Hampton: Hwy 20
5/3 – Hampton: Hwy 20/ Old Griffin Rd – The Hwy 20 location is the same area where the group disarmed the explosives and where they took out the herd clothes-line style in episode 7.9 There will also be road closures on Old Griffin Rd. between Bridges Dr. and Bonnie Glen Ln from 5:00am-9:00pm. Simulated explosions are expected at these locations. Basecamp will be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
5/4 – Hampton: Hwy 20
Keep an eye for TWD filming in Georgia and be sure to let us know if you spot them! Stay tuned for updates throughout the season, too!
