Production has started on the next installment of American Crime Story, which will be based on Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History, which focuses on Versace and murderer Andrew Cunanan.
Darren Criss has been cast as Cunanan, while Édgar Rarmirez will play the fashion designer. Penélope Cruz has taken on the role of Donatella Versace and Ricky Martin will play Versace’s longtime partner Antonio D’Amico. New Girl’s Max Greenfield has also joined the cast.
Most of the second season of ACS will be filmed in Los Angeles, but the cast and crew are in Miami for exterior scenes this month. According to a permit issued by the city, crews shoot in front of the former Versace mansion located at 1116 Ocean Dr in Miami Beach – now the boutique hotel Casa Casuarina – on May 9 – 12 and again on May 15 -18.
Today, crews were also spotted at The News Café, where Versace ate his final meal.
