“Dexter” filming in Sturbridge, MA this week!

Eight years after its series finale, “Dexter”, starring Michael C. Hall, will be back for a 9th season on Showtime in 2021. It will be a 10-episode limited series which is likely to premiere later in the year. However, filming is already underway in Massachusetts.

Showtime notified residents in the Sturbridge and Holland areas that production, using the project name “Marble”, will last from Wednesday, February 10th, to Saturday, February 13th. In the letter sent to residents last week, Showtime clarified that the actual filming will happen on Friday, February 12th, from 7am to 10pm.

In the same letter, Showtime notified residents that “On our filming day (Friday) … Leadmine Road will be closed to all thru traffic between Goodrich Road and Bennetts Road”. However, police detail officers will be in place to help residents outside the two streets have full and safe access to their properties.

The location they will use is Tantiusques in Sturbridge, a 57-acre hiking area known which is “a former lead mine used by indigenous peoples and, later, European settlers.”

“Dexter” originally aired from 2006 to 2013 and was nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards, ten Golden Globes, and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards.
