Filming Good For Southern Economy and Celeb Watching
In past news segments we have mentioned that George Clooney and Renee Zellweger are currently filming the comedy Leatherheads in South Carolina. This week we are taking a special look at the making of the film and the impact it has had on the communities that were used as its backdrop. The movie’s economic benefits have been so well received by the Anderson County (just one of the South Carolina locations used) that they have updated their economic development website to highlight all of the diversity the county has to offer in hopes of luring other filmmakers to the region. One of the largest economic boosts comes from goods and services the production crew have purchased while on location. A side benefit is the buzz created in the area by having A-list celebs like Clooney and Zellweger in town.
The locals in Anderson have gotten used to living and working along side these high profile celebrities. The dumpster outside of the cafeteria at The Boiling Springs Ninth Grade School in South Carolina was a hotspot for celeb sightings last week while George and company were filming on the campus.
It looks like Greer, SC may also be getting in on the action of Leatherheads as soon as mid-March.
