Filming in the South Heats Up

There seems to be a surge in filming taking place down south. As we have previously reported, George Clooney is currently filming the movie Leatherheads across South Carolina and this week we will look at some other Southern locations that are competing for a piece of the Hollywood action.

South Carolina proves again that it is ready to play in the filming game as Charleston beats out Savannah to be the location for a new ABC drama.

Colonial Williamsburg will the be the location for a new film about John Adams. The film, which is being produced by Tom Hanks’ Playtone Company, just began shooting here. The location was scouted by Hanks in 2005.

Louisiana’s movie industry tax credits lure filmmakers to the state. Two new films have announced plans to shoot in the state.

As filming of Leatherheads continues in South Carolina, People reports that George Clooney has been taking time to greet fans in between filming.

We may be seeing more films being made in Mississippi. The Governor has just signed a bill to provide more incentives to the film industry.
