Most travelers to NYC never leave Manhattan, for that matter most Manhattanites never leave Manhattan, which is a shame considering all the other boroughs offer. As we mentioned, Julie and Julia is filming in Astoria, Queens today. We gathered a few links for those of you thinking about checking out the set, why not spend the day and make Queens a destination not just a stop over?
Here is a NY Times article about all food, culture, and shopping in Queens. (you will need a free account to access the article)
Here’s a very comprehensive guide to the area from About.com. They list everything from the Top 5 Sandwiches in Astoria to a blog by a local.
And if you really like it once you get there, why not stay? (you will need a log in, NYT article)
is there any J&J locations for tomorrow?
Guilty as charged. I am one of those Manhattan dwellers who doesn’t like to go beyond midtown, really. I have it bad. If it requires getting on a subway, I probably don’t wanna go. I am not from NYC though, and am very well traveled, but now that I’m in the coolest city ever…why leave? 🙂
I’m joking. I like exploring various parts of Manhattan as a passenger in a car.
