Two Meter Films, a Washington, D.C. based production company, will arrive in Ironton, OH on Dec. 5 to shoot the opening and closing scenes of the movie ” The Shoebox.” The movie is an adaptation of a true story based on three complete strangers who combine their talents on a songwriting Website to pen a song in honor of a cancer-stricken little girl none of them will ever meet.
Beginning on Wednesday, the entire cast and production crew for “The Shoebox”, which has filmed all summer in D.C., Maryland and Nashville, will come to Ironton.
Producers seek thousands of extras to recreate two scenes that are integral to the movie. Filming is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Ironton High School gymnasium. Tentatively, the hours will be from 4-8 p.m.
On Saturday at around 4 pm the opening scene, a fundraising scene, will be recreated in honor of Shane Jones at the Ironton High School gymnasium. Shane Jones whose “Never Give Up” attitude is the basis of the film.
Aside from the fundraising scene, which opens the film to introduce Shane Jones, the final scene, a Light the Night ceremony honoring Meghan Mack, will also be shot outside on Saturday night.

Two Meter Films say that they are hoping to get as many extras as possible, because a large crowd will be needed to make these two scenes successful. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. T-shirts and hoodies bearing the “Never Give Up” logo are being sold to fund The Shane Jones and Jeff Carty ‘Never Give Up’ Scholarship at Ironton High School.Those planning on attending the Dec. 5 filming of “The Shoebox”, at 4 p.m. in the IHS gymnasium, are encouraged to wear one of these shirts to recreate a fundraiser in Shane’s memory for the movie.
