Rumor have it that DreamWorks Studios is scouting West Michigan as a shooting location for an upcoming movie. More precisely it seems as if they are interested in the area around Grand Rapids.
According to Rick Hert, director of the West Michigan Film Office, “a scout spent some time in Barry County this week where he was looking at several different locations such as courthouses, fairgrounds, hotels, diners and other historic locations.” He also added that the movie is scheduled to start shooting next spring or summer, however currently it is far too early to confirm anything.
The West Michigan Film Office is currently busy helping producer Randall Emmett, who has plans of shooting between two to three productions in a row in the Grand Rapids area. Firstly, Randall is scheduled to begin filming “The Gun” later this month, which will star 50 Cent and will be directed by Jessy Terrero. After that, “Jekyll and Hyde,” staring 50 Cent and Forest Whitaker is set for shooting in January.
Randall Emmett is already familiar with the area after having recently produced “Caught in the Crossfire,” which he produced with East Grand Rapids-born director Brian Miller. The movie stared 50 Cent, as well as “CSI Miami’s” Adam Rodriguez, and was shot in the Grand Rapids area in May of 2009.
