The next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean is set to shoot in Hawaii, producer, Jerry Bruckheimer confirms that filming will start in June 2010, furthermore he confirmed that Johnny Depp is on board for the film by saying “No deals have been made yet, other than Johnny’s.”
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will follow Jack Sparrow as he continues his quest to find the Fountain of Youth, which was briefly mentioned in the final scenes of the previous movie. Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott wrote the script for the movie, which has just recently been given a May 20, 2011 release date.
Disney’s Pirates are expected to bring as much as $85 million in spending to Hawaii and create hundreds of jobs. According to sources the production of the next Pirates flick will be based in O’ahu. State Governor Linda Lingle confirms that she has met with Disney CEO Bob Iger, and that she is happy to see Hawaii featured in a movie as popular as Pirates of the Caribbean, furthermore she ass that “Disney won’t just be filming here, it’ll be doing its post production work here as well”.
State Creative Industries Division Georja Skinner says that filming in Hawaii not only brings benefits to those directly involved in the filming, however also “the hotel industry, small mom and pop shops.” In other words everyone both large companies as well as smaller ones will benefit.
