The rumor mill surrounding the Fast and Furious Franchise just keeps churning, this time around however there seems to be something to the rumors. According to  Variety, Universal Pictures is filling up for another Fast and Furious, with a tentative title of Fast Five.

The plan for a new installment really can’t come as a surprise to anyone, since last year’s fourth installment was the highest-grossing Fast and Furious film and Universal’s top grosser of 2009, making $343 million worldwide.

According to sources, Universal Pictures has inked deals with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, as well as director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz. The project is to be penned by Chris Morgan, making this his third Fast and Furious film.

Little is known about the story except that Dom (Diesel) and former FBI Agent Brian (Walker) are now fugitives again being pursued by “relentless” lawmen.

If you log onto Vin Diesel’s Facebook page, then you will see that it seems as if he has confirmed his part in the project, and even adds that there might be more than one movie in the pipeline.

Diesel writes:

If 2009’s Fast and Furious was chapter one, what writer Chris Morgan just delivered is Chapter 2 and Chapter 3,”

He then adds:

I have never been submitted a two story saga from a studio before…it is very exciting and shows a commitment level that is hard not to respond to.

Excited about the sexy locations the filming of this saga would take us…this novel-like story, that has twists and unexpected turns that is authentic, truthful and challenging to the characters.”

While nothing much has been released about the movie or its potential filming location yet, it does seem as if it will shoot in late 2010 and is planned for a 2011 release.
