Tim Robbins (‘The Shawshank Redemption’) and Peter Sarsgaard (‘Jarhead’) have joined the cast of the ‘Green Lantern’ movie. Martin Campbell (‘Casino Royale’) is directing the film adaptation of the DC Comics superhero.
Robbins will play Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of the movie’s villain, and Sarsgaard will play Dr. Hector Hammond, who becomes infused with psychic powers. Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, Blake Lively as the hero’s love interest, Carol Ferris and Mart Strong as Sinestro.
Filming is set to begin in March in New Orleans following the production’s collapse in Australia. Warner Bros. will release ‘Green Lantern’ on June 17, 2011.
