As we’ve mentioned, 50 Cent (who was recently shocked Chace Crawford gets so much attention from the ladies) is filming in Allendale, MI this weekend. But, that’s not the only filming news out of Michigan this week.

Here’s a look at what else is going on in the Wolverine state:

Susan Sarandon is in talks to star in a big-screen version of The Big Valley, the 1965-69 ABC western about the fierce-willed matriarch of large California ranch in the 1870s. The movie is expected to be filmed in Michigan and New Mexico.

Unity Studios, outside of Detroit, has announced its first project, A Christmas Dream, which is about a mother and daughter living in the South during the Civil War. Filming begins in March. Unity is going to have some major competition in Michigan though, Hanger 42, a major film studio in Walker, is set to be completed this month.

And, finally, they are still looking for a young boy to play Max in Real Steel, which will begin filming in Michigan later this year. There is an open casting call for the role in Chicago today from 11 AM- 4 PM. There will also be an open casting call in NYC on Feb. 20. If you’re interested in being an extra in Real Steel, submit photos and resumes by mail to: Casting Associates, 1301 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrnace, CA 90501. Hugh Jackman stars in the film.
