Will Johnny Depp set sails for St. Ives?

Alice In Wonderland: Royal World Premiere - Afterparty Arrivals

As you may remember a while back we posted an article about Johnny Depp and his pirates setting sail for Hawaii, well now it seems as if the crew will ride on different tides as well.

According to rumors, the new Pirates of the Caribbean will be shot partly in the County of Cornwall, more precisely the city of St. Ives. While Mayor Yvonne Watson, could neither confirm nor deny any plans of the Black Pearl setting sails for the city, she did tell newspapers that “the town was excited about the possibility of Depp and his shipmates arriving.”

She furthermore added that “It would obviously be a massive boost for the town, as it always is when a production company comes to film. It’s not just the hotels and restaurants which benefit, it’s the shops as well – it would really put St Ives on the world map.”

According to sources, Depp, agreed to a a $30million deal to return to the role of Captain Jack Sparrow for this latest adventure, in which he continue his quest for the Fountain of Youth, as was hinted in the final minutes of the previous movie. Other sources are  saying that the movie will be sort of a prequel, which will feature flashbacks to Jack’s early life.

As we know, neither Keira Knightley or Orlando Bloom will set sails with Depp, however it’s rumoured that Penelope Cruz will take on a leading role opposite Depp.

The movie- which is called On Stranger Tides– is then set for cinemas in July 2011.
