John Malkovich will spend 6-8 weeks in Syracuse, NY this summer working on the film, Hotel Syracuse, which will be shot almost entirely in the historic 1930s hotel of the same name.
The movie was written by Owen Shapiro, who is also the artistic director of the Syracuse International Film Festival, and Israeli screenwriter/director Haim Bouzaglo.
Hotel Syracuse is a psychological thriller that tells the story of a math professor who comes to Syracuse to attend an international math conference. While staying at the Hotel Syracuse, he encounters friends, family and colleagues from his past and realizes he is not hallucinating.
Bouzaglo also filmed Session, starring Bar Refaeli, Steven Bauer and Tom Bower, in Syracuse in 2007. Session will open the Syracuse International Film Festival in October 2010.
Though most of the cast and crew will be brought into Syracuse for the movie, they will be recruiting locals as extras once shooting begins.
