UPDATE: #2: Casting for Transformers 3 is in full swing. Pre-shoots start next week or so in Chicago and Gary, Indiana. Principle photography starts in May. Some scenes possibly involve Ukrainian soldiers, Ukrainian townspeople, and maybe bums. Principal photography will begin on May 17th and will run through July 17th.
UPDATE: According to tformers.com, The Post-Tribune, a local newspaper in Gary, Indiana reports that the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety has approved a permit for Transformers 3 production to go ahead in the city. The scene will be “rather simple” and portrays vehicles approaching the industrial property. The city will double as Ukraine in the film. Shooting will take place during the day on April 12th (the same day that was specified as “pre-vis” work in the previous report) at the Majestic Star Casino at Buffington Harbor.
Also, as we reported a few months ago, Chicago Studio City, is rumored to be where Michael Bay has set up shop for filming in Chicago (and Gary).
There’s more news about “Transformers 3” and it looks like filming is going to start very soon.
The “Transformer 3“ film crew is expected to ask the Gary, IN Board of Public Works and Safety for permission to shoot a scene for the film in Gary on April 13. The filming would take place on property owned by Majestic Star Casino at Buffington Harbor. The crew will use some industrial property to the east of Majestic Star for a scene meant to take place in Russia.
It is also being reported that businesses along Michigan Avenue in Chicago have been pre-emptively notified of an upcoming shoot for the movie. There is no word official word as to when the shoot will take place but its safe to assume it will be soon considering the Gary, IN shoot is scheduled for 4.13.
Megan Fox and Shia LeBeouf will be joined by John Malkovich and Frances McDormand in the third installment of the “Transformers” series.
