Tom Hanks Starts Production on ‘Larry Crowne’ in L.A.

Tom Hanks announced the start of Larry Crowne this morning with the caption, “LARRY CROWNE -1st day – 1st shot. Too late to quit. Hanx,” on this Twitpic.

This is the first feature film Hanks has director since 1996’s That Thing You Do. He is also reuniting with his Charlie Wilson’s War co-star Julia Roberts who stars in the movie along with Taraji P. Henson, Bryan Cranston, Wilmer Valderrama, Pam Grier, and Nia Vardalos (who co-wrote the script with Hanks).

In the film, Hanks stars as Larry Crowne, a middle-aged man who is downsized from his job and decides to start over by enrolling in college. There he forms some unexpected bonds with fellow students while also catching the eye of a professor (Roberts).

Tom gave us a sneak peek of the shooting schedule with the pic he tweeted last week. According to the photo, it looks like they are shooting straight through June.
