As we recently reported, the Ben Stiller-produced film, 30 Minutes or Less, is going to be filmed in Michigan and now it looks like the movie will specifically be shot in Grand Rapids.
Filming will begin this summer and run through October. The movie stars Danny McBride and Park and Recreation’s Aziz Ansari as two men who are abducted during a pizza delivery. One is strapped with a bomb vest and they are forced to rob a bank for the abductors.
According to Rick Hert of the West Michigan Film Office, “This is the largest production and crew to come to Grand Rapids and West Michigan in the history of the film incentives. (Though) not as a state. It’s by far the largest project and economic impact that we’ve had here on the west side of the state and certainly for Grand Rapids.” Hert added a “substantial amount of office space” in Grand Rapids has been rented by a crew that has been in town for three weeks.
According to MLive.com, those interested in becoming an extra in the film can attend the casting registration event at The Matthew Agency, 820 Monroe Ave NW #305, Grand Rapids, MI this Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. All ages and types are welcome.
You can also sign up for the West Michigan Tourist Association Newsletter, which reports the latest film job listings or upcoming casting, crew or vendor calls for all films produced in the area. To be added to the mailing list, e-mail Hert at the WMFO at rick@wmta.org.
If you are interested in becoming a crew member on the film, email your resume to 30minutesorless@gmail.com.
