‘Looper’ Production Updates: Filming begins in NOLA next week, new prop images released and more

Looper, starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt doesn’t officially start filming in New Orleans until next week, but /Film has already scored a few photos of the futuristic props that will be used in the movie.

What makes the props even cooler is that all the designs were created by industrial design students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, Louisiana. Reportedly, “the production asked the industrial design students from the nearby university to design a bunch of futuristic props for the film. Out of a huge number of options, the Looper team picked about twenty they liked for use in the movie. Plus some of these props, such as the speakers, actually work.” You can see more photos of the props here.

The movie is not only keeping things local, by using props and other services created in Louisiana, they have also gone international after striking a deal with a Chinese company called DMG. As a result, the script has been rewritten to include China, which means they will also be shooting there after they wrap in New Orleans.

Looper is about a group of mobsters in the future who travel back in time to perform assassinations. If you spot Looper filming in New Orleans in the present, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
