Residents of New Orleans are growing accustom to finding “No Parking” signs posted in their neighborhoods for various movie shoots which is why the following came as no surprise to those living and working around Old Poydras:

Farraday Films, LLC, is currently preparing to film the theatrical motion picture entitled “Contraband.” We are preparing to film on Old Poydras between Bolivar and Prieur Streets. NO PARKING will be in effect starting on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 8 am until February 2, 2011.

“NO PARKING” signs will be posted. Parking for 15 vehicles will be provided on a first come, first served basis at a parking lot located at Poydras and South Johnson, owned by Premium Parking for the length of time that no parking is in effect on Old Poydras. In addition, there will not be any parking allowed on the State rights-of-way under the overpasses in this area. Any vehicles parked on Old Poydras between Boliver and S. Prieur will be towed during this time frame.

The New Orleans Police Department will provide officers during actual filming days. FILMING DAYS are January 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and February 2, 2011. Old Poydras will be closed until completion of filming between Bolivar and Prieur Streets due to the scenes requiring a blockage of the intersection of Old Poydras and Bolivar. In addition there will be intermittent traffic control of Poydras between S. Claiborne Ave. and S. Galvez Street during non rush hours on filming days.

YOU WILL HEAR SIMULATED RAPID GUNFIRE AND EXPLOSIONS DURING THE FILMING.

In addition to Contraband, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Ben Foster, Looper starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Treme Season 2, So Undercover starring Miley Cyrus and Jeremy Piven, and Meeting Evil starring Samuel L. Jackson are also filming in New Orleans this winter.

If you spot signs or a film set for one of these projects, spread the word by letting us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

And, if you’re around Conti and Royal in the French Quarter on Thursday, Jan. 27 after 11 pm or on Friday, Jan. 28, be on the look out for something filming as “No Parking” signs are already posted!
