Open Casting Call for ‘Boardwalk Empire’ & ‘New Year’s Eve’

One of New York’s leading casting companies is holding a rare Open Casting Call in New York City next month for the upcoming movie New Years Eve and the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. Here are the details:

Grant Wilfley Casting is holding an open call for background work for the following:

* for the 2nd season of the Golden Globe-winning HBO series Boardwalk Empire, seeking Irish, German, Polish/Eastern European, Italian, Chinese and African American men and women of all ages. The series is set in the 1920s. All men must be willing to get their hair cut short. Women must have natural-looking hair, at least shoulder-length. Must be willing to work around smoke.
* for the feature film NEW YEAR’S EVE, directed by Garry Marshall, seeking New Yorkers of all types (from working class to wealthy) for various scenes.

An open casting call will be held on Monday, Feb. 7 from 10a-12:30p for SAG and 2-4:30p for NONSAG at Metropolitan Pavilion, 110 West 19 St, NY, NY 10011. No experience necessary. Be prepared to have a digital photo taken. All work as background is paid. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.   1. Claudia ~ I read through the posting and did not see anything pertaining to age ~ I will continue to look and post what I find ~ no need to be so short TaBurke!

    • No, for open casting calls, you need to be 18. If they are looking for children they will specify that because minors need special permits from the State Department of Labor to work on film or television sets in the State of New York. Generally they will hire people over 18 that look younger to play teenagers. They even have to hire very short adults to work as stand-ins for child actors that are working in film.

  2. Would like very much to be on Boardwalk Emmpire again!!! what a grt day, wonderful cast and crew, what a pleasure!!! I looked nothing like my self,very 1920″s, so cool!!!Seemed to be put in alot of scene’s too, great fun, great work!!! I am fully paided up AFTRA!!! All is on resume,including props,cars and all that jazz. Thank you once again!

    • Paid up AFTRA means NOTHING to Boardwalk Empire, a SAG show. The good news is we’ll be in both after the merger vote! Bad news is a ton of extra competition for the same amount of jobs.
      Are you working at end of month? I’m doing four days in a New Year’s Eve scene.
      Not as much fun for men: haircut.
