James Franco to be honored at the Boulder International Film Festival

James Franco is a man of many talents. Besides being an actor, he’s a poet (he actually refused to leave his poetry class at Yale to do press in NYC after being nominated for an Oscar), an artist, an author and a director.

James will next be bringing one of the projects he’s directed, The Clerk’s Tale, to the Boulder International Film Festival on Saturday, Feb. 19. In addition to the screening, there will be a retrospective of his work after which he’ll receive BIFF’s Vanguard Award. Franco will also participate in an interview conducted by BIFF Executive Producer of Special Events, Ron Bostwick.

Tickets for the event are on sale now for $30 and can be ordered online at BoulderTheater.com. To find out more about the festival and the other honorees, including Oliver Stone, check out BIFF1.com.

After BIFF, Franco isn’t slowing down and is set to take on another directing gig this summer. His adaptation of William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying, starring Paul Dano, will begin shooting mid-year and though there is no official word where it will be shot, we know he did do several test shots for the movie on New Year’s Day in Newton, NC.

In addition to Dying, Franco is attached to Lovelace, The Night Stalker, and The Ice Man, which is expected to start shooting this spring in New York and Rhode Island. Oh, and did we mention he’s co-hosting the Oscars too? We’re exhausted just thinking about it!
