Now that pilot season is here, we can look forward to a rush of new productions, even if its only for a few weeks. Here’s a look at a few of the TV pilots that will be filming in NYC in the next few weeks:
Smash
Katharine McPhee will co-star in this NBC hourlong pilot which follows a cross section of characters “who come together to put on a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway led by the musical’s composer Tom and lyricist Julia (played by Debra Messing).”
Pan Am
This ABC pilot stars Christina Ricci as a flight attendant aboard the iconic airline in the 1960s.
Georgetown
Also for ABC, this pilot was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl) and is about a group of idealistic 20-somethings juggling their professional and personal lives on the hill. Georgetown will be shot in NYC between 3.16 to 4.4 in addition to Washington D.C.
VEEP
VEEP, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the vice president, is currently being shot in Baltimore, but we’ve heard they will also spend a few days in NYC before they are done!
Exit Strategy
This Fox drama stars Ethan Hawke as the leader of a team of 5 experts associated with the CIA who are deployed when a CIA operation goes bad.
Person of Interest
Lost alum Michael Emerson stars in this CBS drama pilot which is being executive produced by Lost co-creator/exec producer J.J. Abrams.
Eden
This new pilot for USA Network will start shooting in NYC in March. Eden is about a concierge at a high-end NYC hotel who attempts to fulfill a variety of outlandish requests from guests, often with the help of his con-artist cousin. It stars Nick D’Agosto and Enver Gjokaj.
The Ringer
Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to television in this CBS pilot about a “troubled young woman on the run who hides out by living the life of her wealthy twin sister, until she learns her sibling’s life has a bounty on it as well.” We’ve heard Ringer may begin filming in NYC on March 10.
Rookies
Rookies, a new CBS pilot which stars Leelee Sobieski, is being produced by Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Productions and is scheduled to shoot 3.16 to 3.31 in NYC.
Looking forward to Ringer and SMG’s return to TV.
Hope the pilot gets picked up *crosses fingers*
A little sad that if it does get picked up will be filmed in LA, but what can ya do…..
So looking forward to Smash! (McPhee fan)! Hope this pilot gets picked up.
The only one that looks interesting is Person of Interest with Michael Emerson. Sobieski, Gellar, Ricci, McPhee, Shwartz, Savage, Hawke? I find nothing appealing about any of these people. None are in Emerson’s league. The chick from American Idol. Please. Get real.

I agree Julie. Michael Emerson & Person of Interest is the only thing that sounds really good. Eden may be fun, considering USA’s success lately. But Katherine McPhee? Please. She can’t sing, let alone act. And the others just sound plain stupid. Very lightweight crop.
There are signs up for Smash filming on Washington St. between 12th and Bethune from March 19th-21st.
Agree w/ Tracy and Julie. American Idol contestants need to learn that they are not to be taken seriously.
