Tribeca Film Festival will kick off with a screening of ‘The Union’ and a free performance by Elton John

The Tribeca Film Festival will kick off April 20 with a free, outdoor screening of Cameron Crowe’s The Union, followed by a performance by the documentary’s star subject, Elton John.

The screening will take place at the North Cove at the World Financial Plaza in New York City. The North Cove is on the Hudson River behind the World Financial Center and has been the site of the fest’s “drive-in” movies in recent years.

The Union follows Elton John through the writing and recording process as he collaborates with Leon Russell on a album produced by T-Bone Burnett.

The 10th annual Tribeca Film Festival will take place from April 20 through May 1. The festival’s feature film slate will be announced March 7 and 14. For ticket and volunteer information, visit TribecaFilm.com.

According to a festival spokesperson, “Although the event is free to the public, please be sure to arrive early; entry to the venue is based on capacity and subject to the discretion of NYPD and venue security.”
