Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, which was originally called a prequel to Alien but is now considered to be a film with strands of “Alienās DNA” (whatever that means), is set to begin filming soon in the U.K.
While the plan has been for the majority of the film to be shot on a soundstage in England, it looks like they will be doing some on location filming in Scotland too, according to a contributor for Shocktilyoudrop.com.
“Thought you might be interested in some breaking news about Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
The Scottish Daily Express reported yesterday that Inverness or Fort William in the Scottish Highlands will be the production base for an August and September shoot. According to the article, other mountainous parts of Europe had been considered but the Scottish Highlands best suited the film’s theme of “grand mythology and the universe” (the relative proximity to Pinewood Studios in England where the rest of the film is shooting wouldn’t have hurt either).
Prometheus will star Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender (who is currently filming Shame in NYC), and Charlize Theron. The film opens June 8, 2012.
