As we’ve reported, Paul Greengrass is working on a new film about the final days of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. entitled Memphis, and now it looks like the movie will indeed be shot in Memphis, TN.
According to the MemphisRap.com, representatives for the movie have been in Memphis all week scouting locations, including the Lorraine Motel where King was killed in April 1968.
Greengrass is hoping to get permission to use the Lorraine Motel portion of the National Civil Rights Museum soon so filming can begin this June.
“The exterior of the Lorraine Motel is as it was in 1968, which would be very helpful,” says Gwen Harmon, director of governmental and community affairs for the museum.
At this point, there haven’t been any official cast announcements made, but they should be coming along soon with filming set to begin this summer.
