As we reported Tuesday, we have reason to believe that Captain America is doing re-shoots in Los Angeles. There have been signs posted and permits issued for filming around the city under the production name “Frostbite” which was the same production name Captain America used while filming in the U.K.
Since we posted that original story, we were told by another source that according to the people at Marvel, Captain America has completely wrapped and they are not doing any further shoots for the movie. But, it was also hinted that the signs may in fact be for The Avengers, which is in pre-production in Los Angeles and New Mexico.
Though, the latest word on The Avengers, via Mark Ruffalo who will play the Hulk in the film, is that principal photography won’t begin until the first week of May. According to Ruffalo, they haven’t even started rehearsals yet. “I’ve been working with Joss Whedon on the script, with the rest of the cast, and we start rehearsals soon,” he said. “Hopefully, we’ll have the mother of all comic book movies for you soon.”
To complicate matters further, we received several photos recently taken at Universal Studios in Los Angeles that appear to be sets for Captain America. Our tipster, Dennis, included photos from the movie’s U.K. set and points out that several of the set dressing (posters, buildings, cars, etc) are very similar to those seen on the Universal lot.
Here is a link to photos of the Manchester set and here are a few photos of the current set at Universal. The most compelling evidence to us are the two photos of signage below. The first was taken on the Manchester set of Captain America, the second at Universal Studios less than a week ago and they do seem to be a match. What do you think?
