‘Boss’, starring Kelsey Grammer, and MTV’s ‘Under Employed’ set to begin filming in Chicago

Last week we reported that Kyle Chandler may be filming a new series, entitled Powers, in Chicago this summer, but first Boss and Under Employed will spend time in the Windy City.

Gus Van Sant is set to make his TV directorial debut as director and executive producer of Boss, the eight-episode Starz drama series starring Kelsey Grammer.

In the series, which begins filming in Chicago on April 27, Grammer stars as Kane, the mayor of Chicago, who is diagnosed with degenerative mental condition that only he and his doctor know about. Jeff Hephner also stars as the ambitious state treasurer.

The series is headquartered at Cinespace.

MTV’S pilot Under Employed will also spend five days filming in Chicago in early May. The comedy is about five 20something college grads who go through a series of odd jobs and low-paying gigs as they attempt to start their careers.

It stars Jared Kusnitz, Michelle Ang, Sarah Hebel, Inbar Lavi and Diego Boneta.
