‘Home Alone’ House For Sale For $2.4 Million

The house used in Home Alone, which is located  in Winnetka, IL, is available for $2.4 million.

The large Georgian home at 671 Lincoln played an important role in the film, which starred Macaulay Culkin as a kid who has to outwit two burglars trying to rob his house after his family accidentally leaves him behind when they leave for a family vacation.

The home is being sold by John and Cynthia Abendshien, who owned it when filming took place 20 years ago.

The 14-room house sits on a half-acre lot, contains 4,250 square feet, and includes a master suite that spans one wing and has its own sunroom and sitting room with a carved marble fireplace mantle.

The Abendshiens have said that John Hughes’ production company originally wanted the house for the 1989 film, Uncle Buck, but  they were just moving in at the time and didn’t want the disruption. During the Home Alone shoot a couple years later, they spent the five and a half months it took to film camped out in their master suite. The Abendshiens have also said they treasure several mementos from the film.

  1. I still remember when the owners John & cynthia took me and my family on a tour of there beautiful home a few years back. They even sent my sister’s husband who was in Iraq at the time a care package. They’re both generous and very kind and it’s to bad to see they are moving.
