A few months ago there was a rumor circulating that location scouts had visited Osterley Park in West London and were interested in using the property for The Dark Knight Rises, now there has been a notice posted on Osterley’s website that seems to confirm these suspicions.
This summer we are taking the rare step to close Osterley House to the public for 4 days, on 15, 16, 17 and 22 June for private hire. In addition, we are closing some rooms of the house on a phased basis from 19 May to 3 July. Please see the schedule below for further details, or if you are planning a visit to Osterley please call 020 8232 5050.
The decision to close the house is always a difficult one but it provides a crucial opportunity for us to generate some much needed funds, which will enable us to undertake some vital house conservation works. We apologise for any inconvenience these closures may cause and thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Revised opening hours
9 May – 5 June – Most rooms remain open to the public, including State Rooms. Mrs Child’s Dressing Room, Breakfast Room and the Long Gallery will be closed.
Note: Two weddings taking place on 21 May are likely to mean that the Eating Room and the Entrance Hall may be closed at some points during the day. Consequently, we are offering visitors a reduced admission rate for that day.
6-12 June – State rooms on the principal floor and the Ground floor will be open as usual, as will the Gardens. We are offering a reduced admission rate during this period.
15- 22 June – The house will be closed on the 15, 16, 17 and 22 June but the Pleasure Gardens will be open to visitors free of charge. The shop, Café, Park, Ice cream Kiosk, second hand Bookshop and Farm shop will remain open as usual.
18-19 June – State rooms on the principal floor and the Ground floor will be open as usual, as will the Gardens. Our Fathers’ Day Event on 19 June will go ahead as planned. We are offering a reduced admission rate during this period.
23-28 June – Rooms will begin to re-open, although we cannot confirm which ones they will be at this time. State rooms on the principal floor and the Ground floor will be open as usual, as will the Gardens. We hope that most rooms will be open for Osterley Day on 26 June. Osterley Day is free of charge.
29 June – 3 July – Most rooms will now be open to the public, although the Long Gallery, Breakfast Room and Mrs Child’s Dressing Room may remain closed.
In addition to this notice, there are also signs posted outside of the Long Gallery at Osterley that reads, “Due to preparations for upcoming filming, three rooms including the Long Gallery will be closed.”
There is speculation that the Osterley Park House will double as Wayne Manor in the movie, though nothing has been confirmed.
