‘Dark Shadows’ set being construction in Surrey, England

One of our readers, Andrew, sent us a an update from the Bourne Woods, just outside Farnham, Surrey, England, where they are currently building an elaborate set for Dark Shadows.

The movie, based on the ’60’s TV series and starring Johnny Depp, began filming in and around London a couple of weeks ago but it looks like they are preparing to spend a significant portion of the shoot at the Surrey site.

According to Andrew, “A Dark Shadows productions site is taking shape in the Bourne Woods. On the [same] site of the Castle used in the opening scene of Robin Hood a couple of years ago. Filming and clearance is due to be finished by 12 August, or so I gather. Currently a large frontage is being built, looks like a Villa of some sort.”

In addition to the Dark Shadows shoot, Jack The Giant Killer, starring Ewan McGregor, is also expected to spend a few days in Bourne Woods this month.

Update: Jack The Giant Killer has wrapped in Bourne Woods.

Bourne Woods is part of the Kesteven Forest and features picnic areas, trials and ponds that are open to visitors most of the year.

  1. Hay, I was wondering if they where still shooting this o if it was all done because I am looking for volunteer work as a back stage runner for things just like this and I live close to where this is being filmed.
Could you let me know if possible when filming will finish and if it is still worth looking into
    Thank you
