The 2011 Gen Art Film Festival kicks off tonight in NYC

The Gen Art Film Festival has always been a fan favorite, thanks to the fact they open up all of their screenings and star-studded after parties to the public.

This year Gen Art will once again be screening seven films, along with seven parties, over the next seven days.

Tonight, the fest kicks off with Jonathan Sobol’s comedy “A Beginner’s Guide to Endings” at the Ziegfeld Theater, while the rest of the screenings will take place at the Visual Arts Theater in Chelsea. “Beginner’s stars Scott Caan, J.K. Simmons, and Tricia Helfer, in “the story of a hard living gambling father who has doomed his three sons to a horrible fate, and when his sons find out they don’t have much time left, they decide to make up for a lifetime of misdeeds in one day.”

The festival will close with George Ratliff’s filmed-in-Michigan flick, “Salvation Boulevard,” starring Jennifer Connelly, Marisa Tomei, Ed Harris, Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear.

Gen Art will host each night’s after parties at NYC hotspots like Avenue, the Gansevoort Park Hotel, Le Poisson Rouge, and Hiro.
