According to Deadline.com, The Ides of March will open the Venice Film Festival on August 31.
As you’ll recall, the George Clooney-directed flick was shot in Cincinnati and Detroit earlier this year.
The film, adapted from Beau Willimon’s play Farragut North, stars Clooney as a presidential candidate, Ryan Gosling as a member of media and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a campaign manager.
Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood also star is the drama which takes place during an Ohio primary for the Democratic nomination.
Clooney, who has a home in Lake Como, Italy, has had several films debut at the festival in the past including Intolerable Cruelty, The Man Who Stared at Goats, and Out of Sight.
The Venice Film Festival runs from August 31 to September 10, 2011.
