Jeremy Renner is headed to NYC for ‘The Bourne Legacy’

According to various sources, including a local NYC film union, The Bourne Legacy will begin filming in New York City in mid-September.

The movie is the fourth installment in the Bourne franchise, but Matt Damon is sitting this one out and Jeremy Renner is stepping in.

According to director Tony Gilroy, “This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project. The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal. Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive.”

The NY Post reports that the movie will begin pre-production at Kaufman Astoria studios as early as next month.

Other filming locations will include Canada and South East Asia.

In addition to taking over the Bourne franchise, Renner has also recently signed on to star in Slingshot, a biopic about rally racer Bill Caswell which is expected to be shot in New Mexico.

Stay tuned for more details about the Bourne shoot and be on the look out for those No Parking signs around NYC this fall!

  1. They are also filming in Philadelphia according to a quote from that film commission in the latest issue of Production Update magazine. http://www.p3update.com.

I am GUESSING that maybe some NYC scenes will be faked in Philadelphia as done with the film “Limitless.”
